MEA has extensive expertise in geotechnical design for harbours and marina projects which include but not limited to piers, harbours, ferry terminal, slipways, breakwaters, pontoons, and coastal protection. Offering professional consultancy services, incorporating the specific skills required for effective and economical geotechnical design.

Close interaction with the client is essential for efficient design of marine infrastructure. A comprehensive site-specific assessment has to be made of the prevailing marine and geotechnical conditions as well as assessing the residual strength of any existing structures. Marine structural surveys are often needed to examine existing structures with elements in concrete and steel, both of which can deteriorate significantly when exposed to marine conditions.

Bellanaleck Marina

110-berth marina at Bellanaleck Quay was improved by the widening of the existing slipway, new quay wall, incorporating fixed mooring and a new 16 berth floating mooring also incorporating a toilet block and changing facilities.

These improvements made the quay more appealing to tourist and locals alike as the works would allow easier access to not only the extensive waterways but as the quay is an integral spot in the local community, as it is only a few minutes walk to the village of Bellanaleck.

Dungannon Park Dam Restoration

Dungannon Park Dam Restoration

The historic masonry dam at Dungannon Park, a Grade B1 Listed Building, spans approximately 60 metres and dates back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. As a defining feature of the park, it contributes significantly to the site’s character, providing both a striking visual focal point and a calming sensory backdrop that enhances the tranquil environment enjoyed by visitors.

MEA Ltd have been appointed as Lead Consultants by the reservoir owner, Mid Ulster District Council, to oversee the restoration works. The project involves essential structural repairs to the masonry wall, including sealing and repointing the stonework to reinforce and protect the structure.

This restoration aims to return the dam to its original condition while preventing further deterioration. By preserving its structural integrity and historic character, the project will ensure that the dam continues to serve as an important and living piece of local heritage for generations to come.
